Team
On stage and behind the scenes — the core members of Zide Guqin Studio.
Founder and director of Zide Guqin Studio; council member of the New Arts Association under the Shanghai Federation of Literary and Art Circles, committee member of the China Literature and Art Critics Association, and external mentor at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. He founded Zide Guqin Studio in 2014, taking the guqin as a thread to bring traditional Chinese music into a contemporary aesthetic context. Over more than a decade he has grown Zide from a self-organized small guqin ensemble into a highly influential and respected Chinese traditional-music group at home and abroad, continually producing concert works with an original aesthetic vision. Championing the core philosophy of 'letting traditional culture return to contemporary life,' he has led the dynasty-themed concert series What Is the Qin? to major theatres nationwide for nearly a hundred performances; opened up overseas markets, taking the studio to Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, Romania, Montenegro, South Korea and China's Hong Kong and Macao; and brought the studio's work to the CCTV-4 Mid-Autumn Gala for four consecutive years and into the main programme of the Shanghai Spring International Music Festival for four consecutive editions.
Co-founder and artistic director of Zide Guqin Studio, who studied under the great guqin master Gong Yi. Tang Bin excels at music creation centered on the guqin that blends traditional and contemporary aesthetics, and is the guiding force and architect of the studio's artistic style and creative direction. Taking historical dynasties as an axis, he has built an immersive musical-narrative system and pioneered a wholly new performance form — the 'dynasty-restoration concert with the guqin at its core.' Embracing the creative philosophy of 'letting the treasures of traditional culture live again in this era,' he has, from 2014 to the present, composed more than a hundred Chinese-ensemble works for the studio, produced three vinyl albums, and released his own solo vinyl album Landscape. His concert works span the What Is the Qin? series (Tang · Lone Smoke Rises Straight, Song · Return of Water and Clouds, Zhanhan · Qiyuan), Jiangnan Hao, the 600 Years of the Marvellous Secret Notation commemorative concert, and the Tianzhen · Zide series; his signature pieces include Daxia, Pozhen, Liangjiang, Drunken Fisherman's Evening Song, Full River Red, and Guizhixiang — the artistic bedrock of the studio's growth in guofeng folk music at home and abroad.
Co-founder, young guqin performer, and guqin teacher of Zide Guqin Studio; member of the Guqin Professional Committee of the China Nationalities Orchestra Society (the China Qin Association). First taught by Song Ming, she later studied under Liang Huijun and Tang Bin, with further guidance from Gong Yi. She won the gold prize (Youth Group A) at the first 'Hongqin Cup' guqin art showcase and the 18th Qunxing Award of the China Government Award for Culture and Art. As a lead creator and principal performer, she has been deeply involved in the creation and national tours of the studio's Tianzhen · Zide, What Is the Qin?, and Jiangnan Hao concert series and video-art works. Devoted to online media, she reinterprets traditional and contemporary works through the guqin and has created many breakout guofeng music pieces; her personal IP has nearly a million followers across platforms, and the works she has helped create total over 300 million views, effectively driving a youthful spread of guqin culture. She has been invited to perform and exchange across many countries in Asia, Europe, the Americas, and Africa: in 2017 she performed in the Ministry of Culture's 'Happy Spring Festival' concerts in South Africa and Botswana and at the Confucius Institute of the University of Kentucky in the United States; in 2022 she appeared at the Hamburg arts festival in Germany; in 2025 she joined the studio at three major international festivals — the Sibiu International Theatre Festival in Romania, and Kotor Art and the Tivat Music Festival in Montenegro; and she has repeatedly visited Singapore, Japan, Malaysia, and other countries, using the sound of the qin as a bridge for cultural exchange between China and the world.

After many years of study he trained successively under Liu Yanzhong, Gong Yi, and Dai Xiaolian. In 2017 he won the gold prize (Youth Group A) at the first 'Hongqin Cup' National Guqin Competition.
